D-E Community Education Weather/Other Cancellation Policy
· If the school cancels; all CE practices, activities, events, and classes will be canceled for the day.
· If school closes early, all CE practices, activities, and classes are canceled for after-school and evening
- CE Youth BB coaches may also cancel a practice due to illness, roads, etc. The coach would send an email or communication to their Youth BB families.
Community Education is a self-supporting program.
1. Refunds are given when a class is canceled due to low enrollment OR the course requested is already full OR the participant requests a refund before the "Register and Pay by" date.
2. Participants requesting to withdraw from a class before "Register and Pay By" (or if another date is listed in the class description) will be given a refund.
3. Once the "Register and Pay by" date is passed, the instructors are given numbers for planning, supplies, shirts ordered (if applicable), etc. The instructors base running the class on attendance and are planning their compensation based on the registered numbers.
4. If payment has not been made by the "register and pay by" date, the participant/parent is still responsible for payment, even if they opt to cancel (if they cancel after the "register and pay by" date..

Drivers Education-Enhanced Driving Institute (EDI)
Driver Ed is done by a private company, not by the D-E Public Schools. Registration and payments all go through the EDI company.
The Enhanced Driving Institute (EDI) provides driver's education in the Dover/Eyota school district. EDI provides 30 hours of classroom instruction that will take place in ten 3-hour classroom sessions. The final session will include a 1½-hour parent component where we review state requirements for teens and review EDI's New Driver Handbook which is provided for all teen drivers. Once the student has successfully passed their permit exam, they will begin their road training with their parents and with EDI staff. EDI's driver's ed program will provide your teen with valuable insight into driving maneuvers, techniques, traction laws, active driving, and even loss of control recovery. Classes have a maximum enrollment of 30 students. Students are required to be at least 14.5 to enroll in our classroom. However, we prefer to see students take driver's ed when they are 15 plus as a smaller gap in education vs. application, which means they will be far better prepared for the challenges of learning how to drive.

Youth Hunters Education:
Not done by D-E Community Education. D-E has not been able to offer this option for over 7 years due to a lack of volunteer instructors from DNR.
Past D-E families have checked with sportsman's clubs in the area. Some families have used online courses with a scheduled in-person field day or Chatfield Sportsman's Club or Stewartville Sportsman's Club or St. Charles Sportsman's Club.
