William Tamminga, Builder

In 1913, William Tamminga was living in New York. When he was hired to help build the Bethesda Tuberculosis Sanitorium, he moved from New York to Denver, Colorado. After William's move to Denver, his brother John S. Tamminga soon followed, and then younger brothers Sidney and Garret Tamminga moved to Denver as well.

After the work on Bethesda Sanitorium was completed, the Tamminga brothers decided to stay in Denver, and William founded the Tamminga Construction Company. The Tamminga Construction Company was one of the first commercial construction companies in Denver and eventually became one of the longest-standing commercial construction companies in Denver.

William managed Tamminga Construction Company, primarily creating buildings for churches, schools, and hospitals. In 1939, William passed management of the company on to his brother, John S. Tamminga. The Tamminga family still manages the company, now known as CT Builders.
