Being considered All-State in track and field has changed multiple ways over the years. Presently, you must be a state champion to be considered All-State. Therefore, that was used for the many state champions we had in prior years to determine All-State. For many years newspapers would determine state champions as All-State and second-place finishers as All-State Honorable Mention. There were even some years when a third-place finisher was declared All-State Honorable Mention. Prior to the last two season, Colorado Milesplit had a system they used to recognize athletes for All-State honors. CHSAANOW.com is presently the only source that gives All-State recognition to the sport of track and field. They done that for some years now.
