Membership Covenant

Having been brought by Divine Grace to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves to Him, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on His gracious aid and the indwelling presence and power of the Holy Spirit, solemnly and joyfully covenant with each other.

We will endeavor by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk in Christian love; to join in mutual labors for the kingdom of Christ; to strive loyally for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry in this church, as we sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines. We will endeavor to seek first the kingdom of God by giving cheerfully and regularly, as God prospers us, to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, and the spread of the Gospel to all nations.

We will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray for ourselves and others.

We will seek, by Divine aid, to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, and remembering that as we have been born again, and filled with His Holy Spirit, so there is on us a special calling now to lead a new and holy life.

We will endeavor to maintain private and family devotions; to seek to bring early to a saving knowledge of Christ all over whom we have the care and influence.

We will walk together in brotherly love, exercise gracious, affectionate care and watchfulness over each other and faithfully admonish and entreat one another with all humility as occasion may require.

We will rejoice at each other’s happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows, to aid in sickness and distress, to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense and always ready for reconciliation.

We will endeavor to witness faithfully to the saving and keeping power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so that in every way we may bring lost men and women to a saving knowledge of Him.

We will, if we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen
