Community Day 2019!
Mentor Goals 2017-2018
This year mentor groups have been working to complete goals they set at the beginning of the year. A mentor group sets a goal to help the community in some way and they must all participate in order to complete it. Here are some photos of some groups that have completed their goal so far this year!
Ms. Gloede's group put together Shoeboxes for Kids with some 3rd graders!
Ms. Schmidt's group has been going to extracurricular events and reading to elementary school students!
Mr. Brattlie's group has been volunteering for charities this year. During the holiday season they rang bells for the Salvation Army!
Reality Day!
On Friday April 22nd, students from Deerfield High School took part in a day full of career and "real life" planning. The freshmen and sophomore students were able to meet with guest speakers from many different professions such as, veterinary medicine, police work, and human resources. It was a great way to connect those in our community to tour students and school. The junior and senior students participated in a "Reality Rules" simulation which took them through a typically month's expenses. Students learned the importance of budgeting and finding creative ways to save money. This entire day is a part of a school wide program to encourage more academic and career planning discussions. Those who coordinated the event would like to thank all of the community volunteers as well as school staff and support personnel. This month during our mentoring time, students will be discussing breaking through barriers and creating obtainable New Year's Resolutions.
