The Driver Education Program has been designed to meet state requirements. To meet these requirements a student must pass a 30+ hour classroom course and a 12 hour behind-the-wheel/observation driving course.

The student must make a time and effort commitment to both the classroom and driving portions. Attendance for specified hours is mandatory. Students failing to attend scheduled classroom and driving appointments may be dropped from the program without being awarded credit. The course is graded on a pass/fail basis.

Student must have:

1)     a valid learner's permit or license (Bookkeeper will need to make a copy at time of registration)

2)     a signed parent/guardian permission form

3)     appropriate fees paid when the application is returned to the bookkeeper

    (See Fees Below)

Consideration for acceptance in the program will be set up on a priority basis:

1)     David Douglas High School students

2)     in-district, non-David Douglas High School students (placed on waitlist, and will be considered if space is available)

3)     out-of-district non-David Douglas High School students (placed on waitlist, and will be considered if space is available)

The minimum requirements to pass Driver Education for credit and earn an ODOT Certificate of Completion are:

1)     30+ hours of classroom instruction at 80% proficiency.

2)     12-hours of Behind-the-Wheel Driving and Observation.

3)     Fifteen (15) hours of practice driving supervised and documented by a parent or guardian (forms are provided).

4)     A final drive test with a score of 80% or better.
