Adventure Experience 1
Evaluation Policies
Adventure Experience 1 is a Physical Education elective course that incorporates interpersonal skills as well as physical skills. Trust, Integrity, Communication, and Teamwork are addressed as students practice group initiatives, trust activities, knot tying, belay school, and climbing. The 5 C’s are emphasized: Communication, Cooperation, Critical Thinking, Creativity, and Caring. We utilize the indoor climbing facilities (upper gym) and the outdoor challenge course (behind Cresthill Middle School).
Attendance: Each student may earn 10 points a day.
Tardy: Lose 2-3 points for the day.
Excused Absence: HRHS Adventure make-up policy allows for 45-minutes of fitness-related activity for each excused absence. Please write a note describing your activity and how long you did it. Parents sign their name and include their phone number. This must be turned in within 5 class periods of the absence(s) for credit.
Unexcused Absences: Lose 10 points for the day. See teacher for make-up.
Grading:
Activity Points 70% of your grade. (Including the daily attendance points)
Assessments 10% of your grade. (Quizzes, assignments, evaluations, final exam, etc.)
Climbing Grade 20% of your grade (Including weekly climbing logs)
Academic Honesty Policy: Cheating on written work and tests will not be tolerated and will result in a grade of 0 on the assignment or test. A student who cheats will also be subject to disciplinary action per school policy. Cell phones are not allowed to be visible while a student is in possession of a written test.
