About Me

Ms. Higgins' 5th Grade Classroom

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! I'm Julie Higgins and I'm looking forward to a great year of learning with your child. We have many exciting things planned along with plenty of hard work as we achieve our learning goals. In our classroom, we will build a community of learners holding high expectations and developing a lifelong love of learning. Together we strive to become 21st Century learners. Our learning focuses on the four “C’s”: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.

I have taught in Douglas County School District for the past twenty-seven years. During this time I have had the opportunity to teach fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. I focus on meeting individual student needs, fostering independence, helping students to reach their maximum potential and have successful learning experiences.

I'm very excited to have the opportunity to work with your child this year. Together, with my teammates, we will provide many experiences for students to excel.
