Welcome to our class page! I am very excited to be teaching your child this year. I look forward to meeting and building strong relationships with you all throughout this school year.
I am a Colorado native and feel blessed to have grown up and attended school in such a beautiful and diverse state. However, after high school, I journeyed over to Washington for college. I went to Seattle Pacific University, which is about 15 minutes north of Seattle. In 2012, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and taught 5th grade during my senior year. Over my four years there, I grew to love Seattle (despite the rain) and its unique culture. If you're ever planning a trip to Seattle, please feel free to ask me for some fun ideas/points of interest! Over the past 4.5 months, I earned my Masters Degree from Western Governors University.
In 2013, I started my teaching career in DCSD. I taught 5th grade at Timber Trail Elementary for six years. I joined Eldorado in 2019 as a 5th grade teacher, and I moved up to 6th grade the following year. I enjoy coming to work every day, learning alongside my students, and I love witnessing the huge academic and personal transformations that occur. I'm hoping this year, YEAR TEN, is the best yet!
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and traveling whenever I can, especially to the beach. Over the last few years, I have traveled to Thailand, London, Paris, and Israel. I spent five weeks this past summer in Portugal and Spain. I'm excited to find a new place to explore next! My family enjoys outdoorsy activities, especially camping and fishing. During my spare time, I really like to do creative projects around my home. I occasionally go swing dancing, but also enjoy reading or relaxing with a good movie. I am also a fan of spontaneous decisions, such as skydiving, driving across the country, or just driving four hours for some donuts.
Overall, I am extremely eager to be kicking off another school year with your students. I hope to inspire my students to follow their dreams and passions, like I have followed mine. When my students leave me each year, I hope that, along with academic growth, they have become more reflective people who understand the difference they can make in their communities. Brene Brown's quote from Daring Greatly sums this up for me perfectly and will be displayed, again, in my classroom this year: "What we know matters, but who we are matters more." I am confident that this will be a great year, and I look forward to sharing it with you all!
