GIFTED AND TALENTED ID PROCESS

Cimarron Middle School follows district and state processes for identifying gifted and talented students. Gifted identification is based on a body of evidence, rather than a single test or score, and may occur through a variety of identification pathways.

The body of evidence considers multiple sources of information, which may include aptitude results such as CogAT, achievement data such as CMAS, i-Ready, or IOWA, classroom performance and assessments, and observational data from teachers, parents/guardians, and the student. Together, these data points provide a more complete picture of a student's strengths, abilities, and learning needs and help determine whether gifted identification and an Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) are appropriate.
