In 1st Grade, we know the importance of play and getting to be a kid.. Home time should be spent as a family: playing, cooking dinner, having conversations, exploring, and checking in on emotions, etc. Because of this, I only ask that you do these 2 items for homework each night:
1. Read at least 10 minutes per night
2. Practice sight words
We love birthdays in 1st Grade; however, with 21 kiddos, doing birthday treats is a lot. Due to allergies, time, and our school-wide Birthday Celebration Policy, we cannot have birthday treats in our classroom. Instead, you are welcome to bring a goodie bag that our classmates can bring home! We will do a Birthday Go Noodle and celebrate your child's special day in the classroom!

We love volunteers! I can use help with most things, whether it's running a small group, reading with kids, or office work like copying & laminating! Our door is always open and we are so eager to show you what we're learning! Here is a link to become an approved volunteer via DCSD!
