Cell Phone Policy

Cell Phone Policy-Student Expectations

1. Effective from 9:10 am - 4:00 pm, my communication device is off or in airplane mode and in my backpack or a spot designated by the classroom teacher. This applies to all cell phones, smart watches, earbuds and headphones (unless permission has otherwise been granted by staff or administration).

2. I will not lend my device to another student, and I will report any lost or stolen devices that belong to me.

3. I will not send inappropriate, hurtful or threatening text messages or emails.

4. I will not send or post pictures or videos of anyone without my parents' and the person’s permission.

5. It is my responsibility to report any harmful, threatening or bullying behavior (written, picture or video) to Safe2Tell, police, parents or staff members immediately.

6. I understand that I am responsible for the safekeeping of my communication devices.

7. Failure to give my phone to school personnel is an act of defiance and may result in disciplinary action.

8. I understand that if I need to contact a parent/guardian during school hours, I will use the phone at the office with my teacher’s permission.

5th Grade Teachers will be collecting students cell phones/smart watches at the beginning of each school day and securely storing them in the classroom until the end of the day.

Cell Phone Policy- Parent/Guardian Expectations

1. I have read and will reinforce the student’s expectation policy with my child.

2. I will ensure my child understands the dangers of texting/interacting with people they are unfamiliar with, posting pictures and/or videos, and posting to social media.

3. I will monitor my child’s use of his/her cell phone and other communication devices. It is my responsibility to report any harmful or threatening behavior (written, picture or video) to Safe2Tell or police. 

4. I will not call or text my child’s cell phone during school hours, as students’ phones will be off or in airplane mode. Doing so could result in a tech violation for my child.

5. For any communication--emergency or otherwise--during school hours between 9:10 am and 4:00pm, I will call the front office at (303) 387-5225.

6. I understand if my child needs to contact me, my child will get permission to use a phone in the front office.
