ACCESS:
WIDA testing reports have arrived!
We received DCSD's paper ACCESS scores, and they are ready to be picked up and mailed to parents/guardians. Per CDE's requirements, schools must mail the paper results to parents/guardians prior to the end of this school year.
Reports will be delivered by the warehouse on your school delivery day.
We are asking the person in your school who mails assessment results to parents/guardians, to mail ACCESS results to parents no later than June 30th. Please follow these mailing instructions.
ACCESS Mailing Instructions
In the mailing, please include the parent letter from WIDA. This is a shared folder that houses the letter on DCSD letterhead in the most commonly requested languages.
If you need letters in additional languages, WIDA has additional translations posted on their parent letter webpage. To use these translations, please make a copy of the English letter in the shared folder and replace the English text with the translation you are using. If you need additional languages that are not provided by WIDA, please let me know.
Finally, for the person mailing the letters, here are instructions from the Assessment Office for mailing and billing.
Interpretive Guide to Assessment Reports 204 (A Guide for Parents and Educators)
The 2024 CMAS and CoAlt Interpretive Guide to Assessment Reports is available on CDE’s website. The guide provides information on individual student performance reports, school reports, and district reports provided for CMAS (all content areas) and CoAlt (science) assessment results. Section 2.0 of the guide helps parents and educators understand the student performance reports.
Download and use these entire articles or just portions of them to communicate about the CMAS score reports-available here...
An assessment communication toolkit is available to help districts and schools communicate with parents about state assessment scores. The following resources are available on CDE’s website in English and Spanish:

Understanding CMAS Science Score Reports
Sample letter - superintendent/principal to families on score reports
Sample letter – superintendent/principal to teachers on score reports
The materials are meant to be flexible. They can be used as is or the pieces that are most useful can be copied and pasted into district or school materials.

2023 Preliminary School Performance Frameworks
The Colorado Department of Education has released the 2023 preliminary School Performance Frameworks. These frameworks are available in your Google Drive under School Performance Frameworks (SPF).
The preliminary ratings will be available publicly on the performance framework results webpage at the end of the day on Tuesday, August 29. CDE has asked that we keep the results internal to our schools/district until August 29th to honor the time other districts may need to respond to media inquiries. If you have any questions, please contact Matt Reynolds.
Preliminary SPFs
Preliminary School Performance Frameworks (SPFs) were released by the Colorado Department of Education and we are so excited by the data! While these reports are still preliminary until the State Board of Education takes action to officially approve them later this year, there is so much to celebrate.
The total points earned by our school district have increased over the past year, which shows continued academic achievement by our students – and placing us higher than pre-pandemic levels.
Our elementary and middle schools have an overall rating of “Distinction.”
We are seeing consistent gains in English Language Arts and Math.
We are seeing performance gains by subgroups such as Free and Reduced Lunch and minority students.
Performance frameworks, which are part of the state’s accountability system, are used to accredit school districts and assign school plan types, or ratings. Frameworks are calculated using statewide data, including academic growth, academic achievement, and postsecondary and workforce readiness data (e.g., graduation, dropout, and matriculation rates). Learn more at the CDE District and Schools Dashboard (you will need to select our school district at the right-hand side of the screen).
