Q: What does BASE stand for?

Q: What programs does Gold Rush BASE offer?
A: We offer Before School, After School, and Full Days during most school breaks.
Q: Who can attend the Gold Rush BASE program?
A: Any student currently enrolled in Douglas County School District may enroll if space is available. Gold Rush Elementary students will get priority access to the program.
Q: How old does my child need to be to attend the BASE program?
A: Children must be a minimum of 5 years, 0 months and a maximum of 13 years and 0 months of age to attend. Children who are 4 years old and going into Kindergarten for the current school year may access the program beginning on the first day of school.
Q: Is there a required number of days my child must attend?
A: No, you may sign up for days that you need in SchoolCare Works.
Q: Does it cost anything for my child to attend?
A: Yes, along with daily tuition rates there is a $75.00 registration fee per child, or $100.00 per family.
All families will continue to enjoy free registration for the 2024 - 2025 school year!
Q: I have two children who will attend BASE; do I get a discount?
A: Yes, there is a 10% sibling discount. Discount is only applicable to any additional sibling for our on-time scheduled full day tuition rate.
Q: I work for the school district; do I get a discount?
A: Yes, there is a 20% staff discount. Discount is only applicable for our on-time scheduled before and after school tuition rates. Staff with multiple children may be missing the sibling discount on full days. Contact Steven for assistance.
Q: How do I pay for BASE?
A: Payment calendars and payments are due the Wednesday before services are needed. Once they are turned in, you are contracted for those days. When paying, you may choose between a week, multiple weeks, or a month at a time.
Q: Can I add days to my payment calendar?
A: Yes, you can make any additions to your payment calendar in SchoolCare Works. You will not be able to sign up for care on the same day.
Q: Can I remove days from my payment calendar?
A: Once you submit your payment calendar, you are required to pay for those days. If the absence is less that two weeks away, I do not offer refunds. Each child is entitled to 3 absence credits for the school year to use for any before school, after school, or full day session refund.
Credits are not transferrable and have no monetary value.
Q: Does BASE offer any financial assistance?
A: We offer fiscal agreements provided by Douglas County's Department of Human Services Child Care Assistance Program. (CCAP) Contact Steven for more information.
Q: What does the tuition pay for?
A: Gold Rush Elementary's BASE program is a self-funded, non-profit organization that relies on tuition provided by families. These costs cover daily activities, staff salaries, supplies, snack, utilities, field trips and other operational costs.
Q: How do I sign up so my child can access the program?
A: Once your registration has been approved, you may sign up your child through SchoolCare Works.
Q: Do you offer care when school is closed?
A: Most likely! Gold Rush BASE runs a full day program for most school in-service days, school breaks, fall break, winter break, spring break, and summer break. For closure dates, see the parent handbook.
Q: I do not need my child to attend during the school year, but I would like them to attend the summer program. Is this possible?
A: Yes! Summer registration begins mid-April.
Q: My student will need to take medication during BASE. How does that process work?
A: For staff to administer medication, we will need a completed Medical Release Form. Without these forms, we are not able to administer medication to any students. The medication will be stored in a secured area away from students.
Q: Is BASE a licensed as a child care provider?
A: Yes! BASE is licensed as a school-aged child care program through the Colorado's Department of Early Childhood.
Q: Are BASE staff Douglas County School District employees?
A: Yes! All BASE staff are Douglas County School District employees.
Q: Do BASE employees get background checks?
A: Yes, all Douglas County School District Employees receive the same criminal background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Invistigations. In addition, all child-care programs have additional checks specific to programs.
