Mrs. Osbourn

Hello! My name is Katie Adkins and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! I am new this year to William R. Davie, and am so grateful to be here! This is my third year teaching and I have previously taught second grade for two years in Maryland. I went to Salisbury University in Maryland and got my bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a minor in creative arts. I am also getting married in May and am soon to be Mrs. Osbourn!

This year is going to be so exciting with many fun activities and lessons planned. I believe that it is so important to be a life long learner, there is always something new to learn from each day! It is my goal as your child's teacher to make sure that all of my students feel important, safe, and loved. If you need to contact me, please do not hesitate to reach out by email, dojo, phone, or come visit! My classroom door is always open and I care tremendously about you and your child's learning, comfort level, and accommodations. My email is adkinsk@davie.k12.nc.us

I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year!

Ms. Adkins

Reading Resources

Decodable Passages--In this document, it has stories that are decodable based on a phonics skill. In addition to the passages, it has comprehension questions to help assess students on their understanding of the story. **Tip: If your teacher has asked you to work on a specific phonic skill, then you can look in the table of contents to see the story you could have your student read at home. For example, Student A needs extra practice in Short U. In the table of contents, I see that Bud the Pup is the story I can have Student A read.**
