SPOTLIGHT
Davie County Schools- one-to-one initiative has worked wonders for Automotive students!
Students are now able to complete task sheets on line in the shop at their own pace with the new one-to-one!
Meet Alex Norman- A former graduate of Davie County Schools making his dreams come true! In this interview I ask Alex some basic questioning about how he got to where he is and where he is headed in the future.
Class Updates:
Students assignments will be available via Canvas.
*Make sure your checking in on attendance form for each date I post in the attendance section.
*Make sure you are turning work in on time so your grades do not suffer, I know some of you are working or babysitting siblings so most assignments have a week duration for completion.
*please read the online class expectation bellow.
Online Class Expectations
Listed below are my expectations for you guys as we transition to an online class. Keep in mind that means we will be doing things differently than we would in a face-to-face class. If you ever have an issue submitting your work or getting links to open, you need to email me immediately so I can help you. Don't wait until the last minute.
Student expectations:
• Be involved and active in your courses.
• Be highly motivated and disciplined.
• Check the course homepage, calendar and assignment page, the course syllabus, your
DHS email, and the course discussion board several times a week.
• Post the required comments and responses to the discussion board for your course.
• Keep up with your assignments and online quizzes/tests (as applicable) and manage your
time well. These quizzes/tests test your knowledge and comprehension of the new
content.
• Participate actively in class discussions.
• Practice "Netiquette" (http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html) in discussion
board
postings and emails. Be polite and respectful. Use good grammar and correct spelling.
Don't write in all caps (it feels like you're shouting), and sign your name.
• Meet the course deadlines. The courses are not self-paced.
• Be honest and original. Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any online course. View the
Plagiarism Policy for Davie County Schools
The Do’s and Don'ts for success:
1. Do set aside a specific time during the day for this course--the best time that fits your
schedule.
Use this time for preparation and for participation (reading, studying, posting messages,
completing assignments, taking quizzes).
2. Do check in and contribute to the class several times a week. By doing this you will keep
engaged, on-track, and moving steadily toward your goal!
3. Do remember there are people here to help you to be successful in online learning.
4. Don't put off the work! You need to keep up so you can more effectively participate in
group and class discussions.
5. Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are probably several others who are wondering
the same thing.
