Meet the Teachers

Mrs. Christy Kauffman

Mrs. Kauffman is in her 17th year of teaching  and this is her 8th year at Cooleemee. She currently teaches Math, Science and Social Studies in 3rd grade. She has previously taught kinder, 1st and 2nd grades.  She attended Fayetteville State University for her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and attended Appalachian State University for her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. She was awarded Teacher of the Year at CES in 2018-2019!

Mrs. Madison Annas

My name is Madison Annas! This is my 5th year of teaching and this is my 4th year teaching 3rd grade! I have taught in Gaston County, Iredell County, and now I am here at Cooleemee Elementary in Davie County! I am so excited to be a part of this awesome school and community! I graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2018 with my bachelor's in Elementary Education and a concentration in Reading Education. I love seeing my students learn and grow and I absolutely love to see them enjoy learning new things!

Mrs. Katherine Shepherd

    Mrs. Shepherd is in her ninth year of teaching at Cooleemee.  She has taught Kindergarten for the last 8 years and made a move to third grade this year! Mrs. Shepherd graduated from Appalachian University for her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.                      shepherdka@davie.k12.nc.us

Mrs. Kristen Whitaker

    Mrs. Whitaker is in her 18th year of teaching.  She taught 4th grade for 8 years at Cooleemee, and this is her 10th year in third grade!  She attended Salem College for her undergraduate degree and K-6 teaching license (2005). She attended Winston-Salem State University for her Master's degree in Elementary Education (2010) and earned her National Board Certification for Teachers in 2011. She was awarded Teacher of the Year at CES in 2016-2017!
