Meet Mrs. Irwin

My name is ElizaBeth Irwin and I am the 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Band Director at the Ellis B. Hyde Elementary School! This is my eighth year of teaching in the Dansville Central School District and I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching in this community. My job responsibilities include teaching 4th Grade Band, 5th and 6th Grade Band and instrumental lessons to all students in the 4th, 5th and 6th Grade Band program. I received my Bachelor of Music degree from Houghton College in Music Education in May of 2006. In May of 2008, I graduated from the same institution with a Master of Music degree in Trumpet Performance. I currently reside in Dansville, N.Y. with my husband and daughter, Evelyn.

I am extremely excited to work with the students of Dansville and I look forward to a fun and rewarding year! Over the course of the last seven years I have seen the residents of Dansville display an incredible dedication to the arts in this community. Thank you for your continued support of this program! It is my goal to maintain the high standards of achievement set for music students in this district and to strive to meet new goals each year.

My philosophy of music education is as follows: The students will be encouraged to participate in the music program in which they will actively strive to become lifelong connoisseurs of quality music. By showing respect and concern for the students, my goal will be to enrich their lives and develop the unique talents of each student. I will emphasize and teach the value of music in their lives and I will offer a comprehensive program in an inclusive and nurturing environment.
