This site should be considered as the initial version of the reference model. This version will now be applied to existing infrastructures to validate and improve both the reference model as well as the resulting infrastructural architecture. The use of this reference model has been written into other funding proposals where architectural alignment is required and will be actively used by DARIAH-EU to help in describing a highly disparate and distributed infrastructure. Feedback from this work will be incorporated into the reference model where appropriate.
Additional activities include alignment with existing models like OAIS and DSA, validation with the SSH-RIs, addition of example cases and further detailing of the viewpoints, for example aspects of the engineering viewpoint.
Engagement with the Social Science and Humanities research infrastructures is essential to ensure uptake of the reference model. Without widespread use it will be considerably harder for the research infrastructures to efficiently share and collaborate on services and resources.
The development of a reference model is a continuous process. The Reference Model for the Social Sciences and Humanities developed described here is only the starting point.
