Thinking about law school? Starting in the Fall? The Duke Law D.C. Summer Institute on Law and Policy is a great way to try it before you buy it — or to get ready for it — by learning from premier Duke law faculty.
Course offerings in the 2020 Duke Law D.C. Summer Institute on Law and Policy focus on topics important to future law students and future lawyers, including an introduction to thinking like a lawyer, a course on succeeding as a law student, and an introduction to constitutional law. In addition to top law professors, the faculty will include two special guests: U.S. Senator Mike Lee of Utah and Dana Remus, Chief Counsel of the Biden for President campaign and former Deputy Counsel and Deputy Assistant to President Barack Obama.
The Institute is offered in two sessions thissummer, July 6-16 and July 20-30. Each course isdesigned to provide an accessible introduction to thepertinent legal and policy subject matter. Those whoare potentially interested in attending law school, orwho are about to begin law school, are especiallyencouraged to enroll. Registration is now open!In each two-week session, classes will be held Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from either 5:45-7:15 p.m. or 7:30-9:00 p.m., at Duke in DC, located at 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, close to several Metro stations. Wednesday evenings are reserved for special programs, including a public conversation between U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Professor Neil Siegel, as well as a career panel with Duke Law graduates in different fields and a session on applying to law school. Participants in either or both sessions are invited to attend all of the special events.

Thinking About Law School (or Starting Soon)? How to Succeed as a Law Student (7:30-9:00 p.m.) – Professor Doriane Coleman, recipient of Duke Law's Teacher of the Year award, and a longtime member of the Law School's Admissions and Financial Aid Committee
