Who can receive speech/language services?

Students receive speech/language services in one of the following ways:

1) The student has undergone a speech and language evaluation which indicates that a primary speech and/or language impairment is adversely affecting the student's educational performance. An Individualized Education Plan is created to address the communication needs.

2) The student receives special education services under an eligibility such as Specific Learning Disability, Autism, or Other Health Impairment and a speech and language evaluation indicates that their communication deficits are related to the primary disability. If the speech/language difficulty warrants an intervention to help the student access the curriculum or function socially, therapy is provided as a support to their program.
