Vocational Awareness

Vocational Awareness

In this class, students will develop a wide range of job readiness skills. The class will focus on both the development of job specific skills as well as general career exploration. The class will offer hands-on practice within the classroom and school. At the Junior/Senior level, students may participate in vocational training at off-campus work sites to further develop skills and promote generalization to the work setting. Lessons may be taught in a variety of settings such as the classroom, kitchen, cafeteria, or community. Reinforcing these skills in the home will be helpful to students. Family involvement will help ensure greater success as the student begins to generalize what they have learned in the classroom to real settings.
