The debate template needs access to your Google Drive and Google Documents to function properly. The program needs this level of access to be able to create new speech document (Google Docs), to manipulate speech documents by changing formatting, copying text between speech documents, etc.. The program allows you to manipulate the formatting of your files, but it does not look at the actual contents of the files in any meaningful way. The only persistent data that the program stores is preference information about formatting options. I do not scan your Google Drive for the contents of files. If you have any questions about what data the program uses or accesses, please feel free to contact me at matfah@d219.org.
In response to some specific questions that an Education Privacy website sent me:
This add-on does not collect or store any student personally identifiable information about students, and any data that is stored will never be used for commercial purposes
This add-on does not store any data that I have the ability to access or delete. A parent may delete the add-on at any time to completely purge all data the add-on stores.
Because this add-on does not store any information besides preference data, there really isn't a need for a breach plan. In the very worst case, an actor could discover uses a certain Font for documents, but that is all.
The add-on only maintains data for educational purposes.
