Advanced Creative Design

This one semester 8th grade class reintroduces students to the problem solving process through a series of short and long-term design problems. These design problems will expose students to the fields of Graphic Design, Engineering, Architecture, Product Design and Drafting. Students will also learn the safe use of hand and machine tools used to create their designs.

COURSE CONTENT: Students design and complete a letter design drafting and project by the end of their first quarter. Then, they complete a minimum of 3 of the following projects by the end of the semester:

• • Bridge Span Challenge

  • Tower Challenge I or II

  • Stanford Bioneer Tower Challenge

  • Creative Picture Frame

  • Lockheed Martin Vehicle Challenge or

  • Model House Design
