Video Transcript:

Greetings everyone!  This is your school Library!

In this video we’re going to take you on a quick virtual tour of Canyon Library and uncover the ways you can use its treasures to enhance your school experience.

The Library is full of great learning resources, and it’s where we get to work and hang out all day. It’s like a store where everything is free and being a student here gives you the privilege of using it!

We open at 8 o'clock each morning, and close half an hour after the school day ends.  That’s 3:40 on every day except Wednesday. Wednesday we close earlier, at 2:40pm.  We’re open at lunch too!

If you miss anything in this video, be sure to check out our web page - accessible from the main school website.  You’ll find helpful research resources, digital book displays, and our personal recommendations.  There’s a Google Form for requesting books purchases for the Library too, and sometimes  - we have contests with prizes.  So check that out.

Stick around to the end of the video because we have a special guest!

Now --- let’s have a look around.

At the entrance doors, here, we have the exterior book return bin.  There’s also a return slot inside the Library.

While you’re here, look for updates on Library events, rule reminders, schedules, and announcements.

There’s a lot more to see, so let’s head inside!

This is the circulation desk - this is where you bring books to check out, return, or get help from a library staff member.

Over here is our student art display area.  And nearby is the amazing collaborative art project Mrs. Hulse painted featuring original student designs.

To the right we have our Graphic novel section, some study tables, and student access computers.

We’re also fortunate to have a lovely outdoor patio.

Along the whole back wall is the Fiction section, where books are shelved by author’s last name.  We just added a ton of new books!

...More seating for reading and studying...

And to the left are the NONFICTION books - those are grouped by subject.  This section is where you would go to find factual books about anything from politics, to science, animals, biographies, history, art, or poetry.

Posters on the end caps are there to help you find the topic you’re looking for.

Tucked behind the Nonfiction aisles is a wall of paperback fiction.

Those are lighter, easily transportable copies of popular fiction.

Remember, if we don’t have a book in hardcover, check the paperback section too.

On this wall we have fun picture books, a section of books in other languages, such as Spanish and Chinese, and short stories.

Thank you for coming along with us.  We’re looking forward to seeing you in the Library!
