Are you a student who wants to be a climate change Ambassador?
Whether you're a California student eager to lead on climate issues in your community, or an educator who knows a student ready to make a difference, the California Youth Climate Policy Leadership Program (CYCP) is a powerful opportunity for real change.
Sponsored by Ten Strands, The Sierra Club, and UndauntedK12, CYCP empowers students to design and launch climate policy campaigns in their schools or districts. Participants receive one-on-one mentorship from adult coaches, collaborate with like-minded peers from across California, and develop a personal leadership plan—all while gaining hands-on experience in climate advocacy.

The Chemistry of Life?: NOVA Wonders Can We Make Life?
"It's alive!" Since Dr. Frankenstein spoke those famous words, we've been alternately enthralled and terrified by the idea of creating life in the lab. Now, a revolution in genetic engineering and thrilling innovations in synthetic biology are bringing that dream—or nightmare, as the case may be—closer to reality. New tools allow researchers to use cells to create their own DNA.

What happens to students after they Leave Ms. Hansen's Class?
These former students have made a news website that tracks how climate change impacts our economy, businesses, and our general daily lifestyle in short 2-3 minute articles (theincentive.org). They are a team of 7 writers who are seeking to educate future generations about environmental issues and empower them to make a change.
They are expanding their website and reaching out to you and your environmentally-conscious mindset. They are hoping to engage you in your qeust to learn more about the environment and our economy.
I am posting this link to their website so that you can read and learn! I am impressed in the quality and the depth of their articles as well as the interest level of their writing. Enjoy! Here is the link: theincentive.org

Back pain is pervasive among American adults, but a new and disturbing trend is emerging. Young children are suffering from back pain much earlier than previous generations, and the use of overweight backpacks is a contributing factor, according to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA). In fact, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that backpack- related injuries sent more than 7,000 people to the emergency room in 2001 alone. http://www.acatoday.com/content_css.cfm?CID=65
