The homework I assign is useful in reinforcing what has been learned in class, preparing my students for upcoming lessons, teaching responsibility, and helping them develop positive study habits. Students are expected to do daily homework assignments.

I will assign homework almost every night, Monday through Friday. These assignments are related to the lesson(s) covered in the class that day or in the coming days, and/or may include tasks begun in the class that need to be completed at home. Homework should be done neatly and ready to turn in on the due date. All daily homework assignments are not graded. Students will be informed about graded homework assignments ahead of time.  Any such assignments turned in after the due date will be considered late and some points will be taken off.  

For the first two to three weeks of school, homework will be checked daily for completion, and then around mid-September onwards, there will be a random check of classwork and/or homework for 5 points or less, to hold them accountable for their assignments.

Homework should be a top priority. Be sure to have all the supplies you need and a quiet environment. Set a daily homework time  (30-45 minutes) and if you're having a lot of trouble, ask a nearby adult for help or contact me. If you feel that you are spending more than 45 minutes on every single homework, talk to your parents about it and get back to me.  We will discuss ways to adjust the situation.
