How can I contact my child's teacher?
The best way to contact your child's teacher is via email or ParentSquare message.
If there is an urgent matter, contact the school office, as teachers are busy with students all day and cannot closely monitor email during class time.
If the teacher or principal has a concern about your child, the school will contact you.
What should I do to report an absence?
For each day your child is going to be absent:

By 9:00, call 408-252-0706, line 6.
Leave a message on the answering machine with below detailes:
1. Say and spell your child’s name
2. Give your child’s room number
3. Give the reason for the absence
4. Give the name of the person calling
What time should my child arrive at school?
School begins promptly at 8:30 every day
The gates will open at 8:15 am.
Children line up in class lines on the blacktop by their class numbers.
What time should I pick up my child from school?
School ends at 2:40 on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Tuesday school ends at 1:42.
Minimum days end at 12:10.
Please be prompt during dismissal, as children are picked up in the parking lot. Timely pick‑up helps keep our parking lot safe and running smoothly for the entire school community. Please review the parking lot procedures and make sure your child knows how and where they will be picked up each day.
What are the birthday procedures? What can I bring in for my child's birthday?
On your child’s birthday, s/he will be celebrated!
Summer birthdays are celebrated throughout the school year on the half birthday.
Please, no birthday treats or goody bags at school; save them for home celebrations.
Birthday invitations are to be sent through the mail. Please do not bring invitations to school.
If you would like to contribute a gift to the class or school, you may donate a hardcover book to our library. You may send the book donation with your child to school or bring it to the office to be sent to the library.
What clothes should my child wear to school? What is Faria's dress code?
No sandals at school.
No tank top or thin spaghetti strap shirts.
Please write your child’s name inside all jackets, backpacks, sweaters, sweatshirts, and lunch boxes.
What is the Faria Falcon Folder?
The Falcon Folder is a folder that is sent home with important information from the school office. Many communications from school that were once sent in the Falcon Folders are now sent electronically, so the folders are not necessarily sent home every week.
Please check for the folder and please remove and read the notes, sign the back of the folder, and return the folder the following day.
What are the homework procedures and expectations?
Homework will be assigned nightly, Monday through Thursday, and it is sent home in the homework folder. It is important that YOU:
Check your child’s homework
Have your child correct mistakes with your help (if needed).
You initial the top of each page of your child’s homework.
Your child should be responsible for placing the homework back into the homework folder and returning the homework folder the next morning. Another important part of first grade homework is reading with your child 20 minutes every day.
What about lunch and snack time?
• Recess/snack time: 10:15-10:35 - Many children need a small snack at this time of day to give them energy and tide them over until lunch time. Please make sure your child understands which food is for lunch and which is for snack time.
• Lunch: 12:00-12:45
If your child brings a lunch, please send it in a lunch box or bag with your child’s name on it.
Your child needs lunch items that she/he can open alone (to tighten it when it is hot, it will make it hard to open).
No glass containers.
Only spillproof water bottles.
Check to be sure all containers and water bottles are fastened securely.
You need to provide any eating utensils your child needs.
