8th Grade Curriculum

Course Description:

This course covers Washington’s administration to Civil War and Reconstruction. Although the basis of this course is U.S. History, Physical and Cultural Geography, Economics, Civics and Government, Political Science and other areas of the Social Sciences will be addressed through a historical perspective in keeping with the Illinois State goals and standards. An integral, diverse approach will be stressed. The course begins with a review of the new nation and study is then focused on the 19th century, which will include westward expansion. The course ends with a unit and test on the Illinois Constitution. World studies and geography is continually integrated in this course through ongoing chronological historical context. This course will provide a connection to the high school in scope and sequence of the Social Studies curriculum.
