Enrichment
Thinking of Art lessons? Here are some tips to find a teacher who is right for you:
how far do you want to drive--do you want to stay in your community or drive to the city?
what does the Art teacher or studio provide? Are they a mix of experimenting with different types of media; do they specialize in a specific media, such as painting or ceramics?
Ask around about the style of teaching. Does the teacher take the brush from your hand and paint on your canvas or does the teacher demonstrate options on an alternative surface?
Does the studio compete and exhibit work? If so, are you obligated to submit work for competition or can you create art for "Art's sake?"
Are you expected to maintain a sketchbook and work outside of class or is work limited to class time?
Lastly, how serious about Visual Art is your child? This will guide you in finding the right fit for all of you.
