2022

September - Dr. Chung is leaving CUA to become a scientific review office at the NIH Center for Scientific Review. Thank you to all those who contributed to the Chung lab research over the years. Although Dr. Chung is leaving, Ahmed will stay on to finish the K19/breast cancer project.

June - The Chung lab receives an REAP/R15 grant from the NIH! Yay, we can do research for another three years!

May - Congrats to Sarah T for receiving the Academic Excellence award from the Department! Best of luck at George Washington on graduate school!

April - Congrats to Chelsea for being named a finalist for the best poster award at the University Research day!

2021

August - Thanks to the efforts of all former and current members of the lab, the University promoted Dr. Chung as an Associate Professor with Tenure!

August - Pooja's latest research manuscript paper gets accepted in Molecular Biology of the Cell! And chosen by the Editorial Board as one of Highlights! Congrats Pooja!

June - Congrats to Beth McElhiney (Class of 2019) for being accepted to the Texas Tech University Health Science Center Paul L Foster School of Medicine!

April - Pooja successfully defended her thesis! With Distinction! Congrats Dr. Sharma!

February - Congrats to Pooja for receiving the B.T.DeCicco Excellence in Research Award from the department!

January - Pooja was named the Joseph McLaughlin Meritorious Award in Biomedical Science by the Cosmos Club Foundation! Congratulations!

January - Congrats to Brooke Panzarella (Class of 2019) for being accepted to the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine!

January - Sarah's research manuscript gets accepted in Cell Adhesion and Migration! Congrats Sarah!

2020

December - Arwa successfully defended her thesis! Congrats Dr. Fallatah!

August - Pooja's Sharma and Lam et al., "Tracking Single Cells Motility on Different Substrates" published in Methods & Protocols. It's also selected as a cover article!

July - Sarah successfully defended her thesis and became a first PhD graduate of the lab! Congrats Dr. Alsharif!

May - Pooja's accolades are piling on. Congrats for winning the judges’ choice for best presentation at the ASBMB virtual flash talk competition!

October - First research paper from the lab, Pooja's Sharma et al., "Keratin 19 regulates cell cycle pathway and sensitivity of breast cancer cells to CDK inhibitors" published in Scientific Reports!

May - Thanks to Pooja, Sarah, and Arwa, we have a first publication from the lab: Sharma et al., "Intermediate Filaments as Effectors of Cancer Development and Metastasis: A Focus on Keratins, Vimentin, and Nestin" published in Cells.

April - Congrats to Karina for being a finalist for the best poster award and Pooja for winning it at the University Research day!
