Puxton Park Visit

This week, Reception Class had their first school trip to Puxton Park.

The children had the opportunity to meet, feed and hold the animals, and after an exciting (but smelly!) time on the farm they had the chance to have some fun at the soft play!

All of the children were amazingly well behaved and a real credit to our school!

A New Arrival

On Monday morning, Mr Prichard and his family welcomed Otis Freddie Prichard to the world! Now at home, he is thriving and being well looked after by his big brother Vinnie.

We hope you join us in sending congratulations and best wishes to Mr Prichard and his family - what a joyous new addition to our CTK family!!

Maths Online Support

Supporting your child's maths learning at home has never been easier!

On parents' evening you may have been sent home with a list of helpful links - if you missed this, there are some fantastic online resources that you can access, and these can all be found through our Maths Curriculum Page

Book Bags

Please can we remind parents and carers to make sure children are coming to school with the book bags and reading books every day. Children use their reading books every day, so it's important that they are returned to school each day after reading at home.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation with this.

Year 5 Drumming

This term, Year 5 have been lucky enough to receive drumming lessons from musicians at Bristol Beacon.

On Wednesday, the children showcased their newly learnt skills to pupils and parents in a special performance. We think you'll agree we've got some pretty talented dummers in our midst...

Girls Football

Monday saw the final night of the leagues for the girls, and WOW did they perform well and play excellently as a team!

They have been an absolute credit to CTK these last few weeks and this has earned them a spot in next week's finals! Well done girls - we couldn't be prouder!

World Book Day Vouchers

A quick reminder that if you've not yet had a chance to exhange your Book Token, this needs to be done by Sunday 31st March. There are some fantastic books available with the vouchers - for more details on where you can exhange them visit https://www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/participating-retailers/

Girls Netball

Our girls have had a very busy sporting week! The girls were out representing CTK again, this time at a netball tournament. It was the first taste of competitive netball for most of the team so they did so well and have some pointers for our next outing! They developed throughout the afternoon and showed real progress in marking and moving down the court - well done!

Visiting Bristol Beacon

Yesterday, Year 6 had a very busy afternoon in central Bristol.

Their first stop was the Cascade Steps for a spot of lunch, and lucky the weather held up wonderfully for them!

They then visited the newly refurbished Bristol Beacon concert hall to watch the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra perform Explore the Orchestra: Dance, Dance, Dance!

It was a great experience where the children learnt about the orchestra whilst aslo having a chance to sing and dance.

lent fundraising

This isn't something we say often, but THANKS FOR BREAKING THE RULES!!

The children had a fantastic day breaking all the rules they could, and once again, all of your generous donations have been gratefully received.

Our lent fundraising ends next week with our Easter Egg Raffle which will be drawn on Thursday 28th March - tickets are available from class teachers at 20p per ticket.

HEADTEAcHER AWARDS

There will be no Head Teacher Awards on Monday as we have some other exciting things to talk about during assembly!

Here is a reminder of last week's fantastic winners...

Last Week's Winners...

In Monday's Celebration Assembly, last week's winners received their certificates from Mr Condon! Well Done...

Do you have our school app yet?

The School Gateway app is the best (and cheapest) way to stay in touch with us here at CTK.

Not only can it be used to book children into clubs, it's also a great messaging service.

Text messages, whilst useful, cost us a lot of money to send and we're sure you agree, we'd rather spend our budget on more resources and opportunities for our children.  So, going forward, we're going to utilise the app more, to avoid sending as many text messages.

If you've not yet downloaded the app, you can find it on GooglePlay and the App Store under School Gateway. Here's a handy guide to get you started....

https://schoolgateway.co.uk/get-started/

Without the app, you might miss important information going forward, so we strongly encourage all parents to sign up - it's completely free and a great way to stay in touch!!

recruitment

Lunch Time Supervisors

We are currently looking for a temporary member of staff to join our School Meals Supervisory Assistant (SMSA) team. The role is 7.5 hours per week, worked between 12.00 - 1.30pm.

If you are interested in applying for this role, please contact Miss Morse in the school office.

Building Maintenance

Are you a self-employed building maintenance worker with public liability insurance?

If you are, our school and some of our fellow Aquinas Partnership schools are interested in talking to you about small maintenance jobs across our schools at a reasonable price. These jobs could range from attaching door finger guards to shelving or fencing.

If you are interested or know someone who might be, please contact the school: 01173772373 or head.st.bernadette.p@bristol-schools.uk

ATTENDANCE

Holidays during term time

Please can we once again remind parents that they should not be taking holidays during term time. If you book a holiday outside of the designated school holidays, it is important that you complete a Leave of Absence Request Form to inform us of your plans to take your child out of school. Parents should also be aware that any holidays booked during term time will result in a penalty notice (fine).

Lateness

Doors are open for children to come in to school from 8.40am and children should be in school ready for registration by 8.50am.

Children arriving after 9.00am will receive late mark and those who arrive after 9.20am will receive an unauthorised mark for the morning session. Multiple occurrences of lateness can have a negative effect on your child's overall attendance and in some cases may result in a penalty notice (fine).

Breakfast Club is available to all pupils from 8.00am (charged at £1 per day for children R-Y6 and £3 for Nursery) and is a great way to ensure children are in school  on time, and ready for the school day.
