Brief History
The Catanduanes State University Main Library traces its beginnings in May, 1972. From its initial library services which catered to the needs of the students enrolled that summer term, many changes have evolved to cope with present trends in library services technology.
The College Library was then located at the former Catanduanes State Colleges Main High School building, now the College of Education. When the CSC Administrative Building was ready for occupancy for the College Library in 1973, the library holdings found its home at the 3rd Floor, East Wing of the said building leaving its former abode to be the CSC Main High School Library.
With the various program offerings of the institution, library collection and library staff also increased. Due to this rapid expansion, the library services finally found its own three-storey building located at the back of the Marcos Type Building, west part of the CSU Campus in 1998. Laudable achievements were accomplished in terms of expansion of the left and right wings of the library building, physical facilities, staff development and professional growth coupled with collection development, technical services, public services and library computerization project.
The installation of the Follet software on August 13, 2009 highlighted library services with regard to automation of library operations in Cataloging and Circulation services.
The Catanduanes State University Library is now one of the best libraries in the Bicol Region under the leadership of the Supervising Librarian, and dynamic and energetic librarians, staff and student assistants.
