The period after the fall of Rome has been dismissed as a “Dark” age in which no scientific accomplishments had been made, no great art produced, no great leaders born. It was believed that the people of the this time period had squandered the advancements of their predecessors in an era of barbarianism and religion. But as the accomplishments Charlemagne’s Empire, Justinian’s Byzantine Empire and Muhammad’s Islamic Empire came to be better understood the period has been given the title the Early Middle Ages.
