Students articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies leveraging technology to achieve them and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes.
Example: Students reflect on their current understanding and set goals for learning, student created digital portfolios document the learning
Illustration: With teacher feedback and support, students set learning goals and leverage technology to strategically reach their learning goals
Students build networks and customize their learning environments in ways that support the learning process.
Example: Online collaborative spaces, video conferencing (Webex), choice boards and menus, digital pen pal projects
Illustration: Students digitally communicate with other learners/experts outside of their immediate learning environment using tools such as audio, video, highlighting, note taking, voice command, text to speech, social bookmarking, cloud collaboration tools.
Students use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.
Example: Actionable feedback from teachers, peers, or digital tools (e.g., spell check). Student created artifacts that show they are reaching their learning goals.
Illustration: Students utilize voice and choice in how they demonstrate learning, such as digital posters, blogs, digital stories, assessments, project showcases, and so on. Digital tools provide opportunities for students to receive immediate feedback on their work and understanding.
Students understand the fundamental concepts of technology operations, demonstrate the ability to choose, use and troubleshoot current technologies and are able to transfer their knowledge to explore emerging technologies.
Example: Troubleshoot basic technology issues, use prior technical knowledge to learn new technologies or applications. Student created technology operations or troubleshooting fundamentals infographics or posters; a student genius bar where students troubleshoot and repair problems.
Illustration: Students have a fundamental knowledge of how to operate their devices, navigate the internet, leverage applications, and the ability to troubleshoot basic issues with the operation of the devices and applications they use.
