iAchieve Project

In 2010, Creighton School District applied for and was awarded an ARRA 21st Century Learning Grant.

The iAchieve Project was born!

Project iAchieve’s goal was to create 1:1 iPod touch classrooms supporting instruction in all content areas with a specific focus on reading fluency. We chose to apply this project to third grade. Why third grade? Third grade is a critical time for reading instruction as we move students from learning to read to reading to learn. An analysis of district test scores showed that our third graders would benefit from the integration of iPod touches to close the reading proficiency gap.

Why iPod touches? iPod touches are web enabled, allow for audio voice recording to increase reading fluency and comprehension, writing skills practice, and utilizing a wide variety of educational applications to help improve reading achievement as well as increasing technology literacy.
