SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), or METI (Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence), spectroscopy—a focus of the ASRG—is a crucial tool in the exploration of extraterrestrial life. Spectroscopy allows scientists to detect and analyze the chemical signatures of distant planets and celestial bodies, potentially identifying signs of life. Our researchers in Lexington, Kentucky, have been involved in initiatives related to communicating with extraterrestrial intelligence. For example, a message was beamed into space inviting aliens to visit Lexington.
