Homework
Homework assigned for this course will usually not require more than 15 minutes to complete. Most homework will require practice in reading, writing or speaking in Spanish. Daily review of vocabulary is essential for language acquisition and is always encouraged. I expect students to do daily flash cards and log in an average of 25 minutes per week. Your student will be assigned a log in username and password for online Quia activities that go along with their weekly vocabulary. I also expect students to do their work independently and ask for help only after they have given it their best effort. I do not allow students to use any computer translator program.
Late Homework Procedure
In Spanish Class late homework is only accepted for up to 3 days from the assignment due date.
Child Absences
Students are responsible in Middle School for keeping track of their homework assignments and turning in their work on time. When a student is absent, he or she has the responsibility of finding out what they missed. The student needs to talk to their teachers and find out what materials were covered and what was assigned. The student will to do this when they return from an absence. To make sure that the child talks to his or her teachers about what they missed when they were absent, the teachers will no longer try to assemble homework on the same day a child was absent (Grades 6-8 only).
If a child is out for 3 days because of an illness or injury, all of the departmentalized teachers will put together their assignments and the homeroom teacher will collect them for the parents to pick up.
