PLANS FOR THE WEEK OF:
AUGUST 23-27, 21
Welcome Back!!
This week we will be going over class policies, the locations of important materials in the classroom, and getting to know each other.
September 8 -11, 2020
Tuesday
Today we will review the sensors power point and go over additional (end)effectors in our notes.
Then,we will look at the 2020 Robot Trading cards and identify sensors and (end) effectors.
https://www.nationalroboticsweek.org/Cards Make sure to select the 2020 cards.
Wednesday – Friday
Today we will review the general uses for each kind of robot, their sensors, and their (end)effectors.
BETWEEN TODAY AND THE END OF THE WEEK, WE WILL
1. Go over the engineering design process, using a handout from https://www.teachengineering.org/design/designprocess
Click on the Engineering Design Process Student Handout to get the handout and see the steps and descriptions of each step.
2. We will use the ROBOT BODIES: BUILDING A ROBOT HAND from robotrevolution.com to start to design our robot hand end-effector. This involves using paper, a file folder, straws, string, glue, and tape.
3. Utilize our knowledge of sensors and (end)effectors to design a robot that will meet the needs of our assigned societal situation.

RESOURCES BY TOPIC
Week of September 7th, 2020
We will continue to discuss sensors and effectors, adding to the handout from last Thursday. You will be given a scenario for which you will create a robot by choosing the sensors and effectors you feel will appropriately meet the needs of your customer.
