Ensembles

Pride of Columbia County Marching Band

The Pride of Columbia County Marching Band is made up of all students of the Columbia High School Band Program. Membership is a requirement to take any band classes at CHS, which makes it a combination of woodwinds, brass, percussion, and color guard. The Pride of Columbia County earned an Overall Superior at the 2016 Music Performance Assessment.

Wind Ensemble

This is the ensemble that is comprised of the students that show the highest level of proficiency on their instrument. This group travels to district adjudication every year to showcase their ability and musical talent. If a superior rating is obtained the ensemble will travel to state level adjudication. Given the band’s nature, it is our most competitive ensemble and is joined by audition only. The Columbia High School Wind Ensemble earned an Overall Superior at the 2016 District Music Performance Assessment and an Overall Excellent at the State Music Performance Assessment.

Jazz Band

This is our second band that travels to district and state festival. This band’s music is technically challenging due to the nature of it’s performed music. Students enrolled in this band will broaden their knowledge of jazz music and artists. The wind section of this ensemble includes all varieties of saxophones, trombones, and trumpets. The rhythm section includes Drums, Vibraphone, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, and piano. The Columbia High School Jazz Band earned an Overall Excellent at the 2016 Music Performance Assessment.

Color Guard

This is the band program's visual ensemble. The color guard combines elements of flag, rifle, and dance with music to lift and edify their audience. The Columbia High School Color Guard earned an Overall Superior award at the District Solo and Ensemble and an Excellent at State Solo and Ensemble.

Concert Band

This ensemble is geared towards furthering the student's knowledge on their instrument. Throughout the year students will refine their musical skill and strive to play more challenging music. This group rehearses songs to perform at all concerts. All wind instruments are included in this ensemble.

Percussion Ensemble

This ensemble is dedicated to furthering the skills of the student in the realm of concert percussion. As in the concert band students work to refine their skills to undertake higher level music. This ensemble includes all percussion instruments.
