Our mission is to develop student athletes into better athletes and people by teaching the values of persistence, dedication, respect, and understanding that you are part of a team through the sport of Track and Field.
EXPECTATIONS
1. MAINTAIN A PROPER ATTITUDE
• Always give your best effort
• Have a desire to improve, be willing to try new events if you are asked
• Be positive and encouraging – No whining, complaining etc.
• We are a family! Make team unity a priority! Build positive relationships with your teammates!
Be Respectful!!! – This includes teammates, opponents, officials, and even spectators including your own family! No back talk, no cursing, no hazing or bullying! Leave phones in the locker room and focus on improving and encouraging teammates instead!
· INSUBORDINATION WILL NOT BE TOLLERATED.
Discipline problems will be handled in the following manner:
1. Pushups or burpees/meeting with the coaches/ possible removal from team
2. Suspension from a meet/ possible removal from team
3. Removal from the team
2. BE PREPARED
· Bring sweats every day – keep them on unless a coach tells you to remove them
o Temperatures 60 and under require full warmups (pants and long sleeves)
o 60-65 requires at least long pants for warmups
o Over 65 we MAY allow shorts/t-shirts but still at the coaches’ discretion based on the weather conditions!
*Failure to bring warmups will result in pushups*
· You are responsible for bringing your own water to practice
· You need sneakers to practice! Having only spikes is not acceptable.
· Bring your uniform on meet day!
3. ACADEMICS
· Maintain your academic eligibility!
o 2 or more F’s on Friday at 2pm = ineligible to compete the following week
o Ineligible athletes can practice but are NOT allowed to compete on meet day – Repeated ineligibility may result in suspension from attending meets and/or removal from the team
4. ATTENDANCE
You are expected to be at practice every day!!!
· Consequences for unexcused absences include:
o 1st offense - 100 push-ups
o 2nd offense – 100 push-ups and suspension from a meet
o 3rd offense – Meeting with coaches and possible removal from the team
· There are several reasons for “excused” absences that include the following:
o Home sick from school
o Family trip *Requires email/note from parent*
o Doctor’s appointment *Requires email/note from parent*
o MANDATORY after school activity *Requires email/note from teacher*
o Conflicts with other sports
§ Note that this will be handled on a case-by-case basis. We expect you to attend meets, and we will work with athletes regarding navigating practices for multiple sports. We are very willing to be flexible! We want you to have a good experience with all sports!
§ Any conflicts with other sports also require an email/note from a parent/guardian, otherwise athletes are subject to terms above.
5. SCHOOL DISCIPLINE ISSUES
Detentions – We will evaluate the severity of the detention and respond accordingly.
· Consequences for detentions include:
o 1st offense – 50 push-ups
o 2nd offense – 100 push-ups and possible suspension from a meet and/or removal from the team
o 3rd offense – 100 push-ups and meeting with coaches about possible removal from the team
*Continued offenses will result in a removal from the team*
ISS/OSS - 1 meet suspension, 100 push ups and/or possible removal from the team
