Expectations for Athletes:
While competing at meets, our athletes are representing Cocalico School District. We expect the best behavior and sportsmanship from all athletes. Any athlete that does not follow team and/or school rules during meets, and any athlete that does not show sportsmanlike behavior during meets will be reprimanded.
The routine and order of events will be the same for all of our meets, except for the Pioneer Relays at Lampeter-Strasburg and Leagues at Hempfield (these are long invitationals). Athletes will be expected to do the team warm-up together as a team, and they will do their event-specific warm-up afterwards. If athletes have downtime in between their events, they are expected to cheer on their teammates and to behave in a school-appropriate manner.
During meets, athletes should stay in areas deemed for athletes and coaches. Athletes may not hang out with friends or family until after they are done with their events. They need to be able to focus and follow the instruction of their coaches. Athletes must also be at their event areas until they are done, instead of wandering around. If an athlete is not at their event area on time, they will be disqualified from their event.
Attire:
Rules are very specific as to what athletes can and cannot wear at meets. Athletes may wear warm-up attire before their events; however, they must wear their uniform during the event, plus a few additional clothing items. Here's what you need to know:
Athletes MUST wear:
School-issued uniform (top and bottom)
Shoes (running shoes, track spikes, or throwing shoes)
Athletes MAY wear:
Undershirt (must be a single color-gray, black or white)
Underarmor shirt/pants (must be a single color-gray, black or white)
Pants under Uniform Bottom (must be a single color-gray, black or white)
Medical Alert Bracelets
Bobby Pins, Clips, etc to fasten hair
Athletes MAY NOT wear:
Undershirts, pants, or underarmor with more than one color (one logo is allowed)
Electronic devices
Transportation:
All athletes will be bused to away meets from the school (even the L-S Relays and Leagues at Hempfield). Athletes will also be bused home from all meets; however, parents/guardians may pick their child home from the meet. The time the bus arrives back at the middle school varies by meet; however, we are normally back by 6:30.
Leaving Meets Early:
Home Meets: Athletes should stay for the duration of all home meets to cheer on their teammates. Parents/guardians may take their child early if absolutely necessary (family obligation, etc.)
Away Meets: Athletes may leave early with parents from away meets. For our records, a small note must be filled out saying the parent/guardian is taking the athlete home from the meet.
