Classroom Rules

• Be on time, ready to work, ready to share, ready to be good students (you MUST ask questions), ready to help one another- and RESPECT!

Class Expectations

• Come to class everyday ready to discuss a current event.

• Take at least 30 minutes per night to watch the news or read the newspaper. (Download NPR, BBC, etc. on your phone.)

• Listen to 90.7 FM on your way to or home from school.

School Wide Grading Policy

CMS Grading Policies

Grade Categories

• Prepare 20%

  • Homework, warm-ups, exit tickets, smaller checks for understanding

• Rehearse 30%

  • Quizzes, labs, mini-assessments, mini-projects, classwork

• Performance 50%

  • Unit assessments, common assessments, performance tasks, writing assignments, projects with rubrics, labs, speeches

Late Work Policy

• 5 points per day

  • Late assignments will be accepted until one week (5 school days) after the “Perform” date. Work submitted after this time will receive a 50% and will be given feedback .

Retest Policy

• Performance assessments (not projects or writing assignments) can be retaken for up to an 80. Must be taken within three weeks of the original test.

Absences

• Students are required to take missed assessments the first day they return from being out. Students who refuse to take assessment at the assigned make up time lose the opportunity to retest.

• Students who miss more than 10 days of class must complete recovery or receive an F in class regardless of their grade.

Tutoring Schedule

• Tutoring is offered every Tuesday from 2:45 until 4:00 after school.
