William A. Hough High School

AP US Government and Politics is equivalent to a college-level class requiring solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to homework and independent study. This course is a two semester survey of United States government from the Constitution to the present day. This course includes both the study of general concepts used to interpret US government and politics and the analysis of specific examples. It also requires familiarity with the various institutions, groups, beliefs, and ideas that constitute US government and politics. Course material is divided into topics and emphasizes themes set out by the official AP Course Description, located at https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/. This course prepares students for the Advanced Placement Exam given in May 1, 2023 where students may earn college credit with a passing score of 3, 4 or 5 (out of a possible 5).
