2024-25 Media Center Check Out Policies
Students are allowed to check out two books at a time.
Fiction and nonfiction books, as well as eBooks and Audiobooks, have a checkout period of three weeks. Reference books and magazines have a checkout period of one week.
Print books are allowed to be renewed one time.
There is a self checkin station in the Media Center for students to return their books
When a book is 21 days late, the computer system will automatically mark the book as lost and charge the full price for the book. If a book is returned after the full price is charged, the book fine will be waived. If a book is returned after the student leaves KMIS, no refunds are issued.
Students must pay for damaged or lost books. If the damage is extensive or the book is no longer readable, the full book price will be charged. Other damage fines will vary depending on the extent of the damage. If a student has lost a book, they must pay the full price of the book.
Notices of fines and overdue books will be sent by e-mail to students weekly. Fourth nine week fine/overdue paper notices will be sent home after all books are due to the Media Center.
If a student owes a book from a previous school year, they will be limited to one book at a time from KMIS until the owed books are returned or paid for.
If a book is owed to a school other than KMIS, the book or payment for the book may be sent to KMIS.
If a student owes $5.00 or more to KMIS they will not be allowed to check out books until payments are made or books are returned. Payment plans may be arranged for students who owe large fines due to lost or damaged books.
When students change schools, we ask them to please return our library books to KMIS. Or return them to their new school to be sent back to KMIS.
