Virtual Manipulatives, Fraction Tiles
Great site that lets students move fraction tiles onto a workspace. Students can identify fractions and work with equivalent fractions.
Fraction Model from Illuminations
Fractions can be made in circles, rectangles, or sets. Using sliders, fractions and mixed numbers can be created. The decimal equivalent is given. The numerator is restricted to values from 0 to 20, and the denominator is limited to benchmark values of 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 10 and 20.
Put in a fraction or use the fraction given. The decifractator will give you the equivalent decimal.
Students shoot darts at balloons on a dart board. To hit balloon, students must type in a number in a given range. Three levels of difficulty.
Arthur Benjamin does "Mathemagic" Video from TED
In a lively show, mathemagician Arthur Benjamin races a team of calculators to figure out 3-digit squares, solves another massive mental equation and guesses a few birthdays. How does he do it? He’ll tell you. Stop the video and let students use their calculators to compare their answers with Mr. Benjamin.
Squash the flies with a ball by adding and subtracting numbers on number lines using problem solving
Students are given a set of numbers. They must arrange all the numbers on the number line to reach a given number. Students then must write an equation using the numbers.
