5th Grade Expectations

Classroom Expectations

Fifth grade is an extremely important year filled with learning, laughter, and rigor. In Room 206,  you will be an important part of our classroom community. We are counting on your ideas and actions to make this year fantastic.  We will explore the adventurous world of reading and the power of writing.  I hope you will come to our classroom with an open mind and a determined heart.

Fifth graders take on new responsibilities and become increasingly independent in their learning and organization habits. They learn how to pace themselves, managing short-term guidelines for increasingly complex long-term projects.  We will work diligently together to help you become more autonomous, as you learn life-skills around managing your own behavior, relationships, supplies, and learning experiences.

Future Focused

PVC Middle School actively teaches and promotes students in their development of Behaviors that Promote Learning and Wellbeing.

We will discuss these three areas throughout our entire year together:

*Self Leadership (motivation, risk-taking, self-control, persistence)

*Self Advocacy (seeking help when needed, being organized and prepared, navigating challenges by identifying solutions)

*Interpersonal Skills (effective communication, collaboration, teamwork, demonstrates respect)
