Middle School Information Sessions
Cherokee Trail Counselors will provide a presentation to our feeder middle schools explaining the registration process and then follow up with registration sessions to answer any lingering questions. These dates are:
Fox Ridge MS Presentation: Jan 29th Registration: Feb 5th
Infinity MS Presentation: Jan 30th Registration: Feb 6th
Thunder Ridge MS Presentation: Week of March 9th
Registration Information
Counselors will present an overview of CTHS and course registration to your student. Students will receive a course request worksheet. They may access the Course Registration Guide on the Resources page of this website.
Please discuss this with your student and sign the forms where indicated.
The following week, students register via PowerSchool for their 9th grade electives and return their course request worksheet.
Core Classes + Elective Classes will equal 7.0 credits
Core Classes: 8th grade teachers will make recommendations for core classes prior to registration. Students will then be able to select their chosen level, even if it differs from their teacher's recommendations. Keep in mind students must still meet the prerequisites for the course; for example, a student in Math 8 MUST enroll in Algebra 1 in 9th grade.
Your student will select:
English 1.0 Credit (English 9, Pre AP, or Pre-IB English 9)
Social Studies 1.0 Credit (World Geography, Pre-AP World History & Geography, or AP Human Geography)
Math 1.0 Credit (Algebra 1 or suggested level)
Science 1.0 Credit (Biology or Biology Honors)
Elective Classes: Students will select elective courses that may include World Language, Business, Engineering Technologies & Computer Science, Performing Arts, Communication, Media, Art & Design, Wellness & Fitness, Health Sciences, and Health.
These courses are 0.5 credit (one semester) or 1.0 credits (year long).
Alternate Classes: These are to be used if your elective choice is unavailable. Students should select three or four.
Advisory: All CT students will be required to have an Advisory class. This is not listed in our registration as it will be automatically added during the summer schedule building process.
