Course Registration Overview

Middle School Information Sessions


Cherokee Trail Counselors will provide a presentation to our feeder middle schools explaining the registration process and then follow up with registration sessions to answer any lingering questions. These dates are:


Fox Ridge MS Presentation: Feb 26th Registration: March 4th

Infinity MS Presentation: Feb 22nd Registration: Feb 29th                

Thunder Ridge MS Presentation: Feb 23rd Registration: March 1st


Registration Information


Counselors will present an overview of CTHS and course registration to your student. Students will receive a core recommendation sheet and an elective worksheet. They may access the Course Registration Guide on the Resources page of this website.


Core Classes + Elective Classes will equal 7.0 credits

Core Classes: will be determined by a combination of current teacher recommendation, current grades, and/or recent standardized test data (when available).  

Your student will be placed into: 

English 1.0 Credit  (English 9, Pre AP, or Pre-IB English 9)

Social Studies 1.0 Credit  (World Geography, Pre-AP World History, or AP Human Geography)

Math 1.0 Credit (Algebra 1 or suggested level)

Science 1.0 Credit  (Biology or Biology Honors)

Elective Classes: Students will select elective courses that may include World Language, Business, Technology, Engineering Technologies, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Wellness & Fitness, Communication Arts, and Health. 
These courses are 0.5 credit (one semester) or 1.0 Credits (year long). 

Alternate Classes: These are to be used if your elective choice is unavailable. Students should select three or four. 

Advisory: All CT students will be required to have an Advisory class. This is not listed in our registration as it will be automatically added during the summer schedule building process.
