Chatham County Schools uses a 4 step problem-solving model to help with the school improvement process, to help PLCs improve student outcomes, and to help individual students grow to their greatest potential. Below, you will find our 4 step model, an overview of our 3 types of data, and the problem solving model.
4 Step Process
Identify and understand the problem; create a plan (action steps) to address it. (PLAN)
Implement the action steps (DO).
Collect and evaluate data to determine if the plan being implemented is effective in addressing the problem (STUDY).
Revise the action steps and set a timeline for a new study, or initiate a new plan (ACT).
Student Outcome Data: This data helps us identify students that are having difficulty meeting intended learning goals or are in need of a more intensive instruction.
Implementation Data: This tells us how our adults are implementing the critical parts of our Multi-Tiered System of Support. We cannot change student outcomes without changing how our adults support our students to get the outcomes. And, we cannot attribute a change in student outcomes without the implementation data.
Fidelity Data: If an individual student or a group of students is not making the progress intended, any problem solving team must first decide if the intervention was implemented with fidelity.
