EXPECTATIONS
1. Students must be on time for every PE class (there is 3-4 min. allotted for changing before class). Students who are late will be subject to consequences following their third late.
2. Students must be changed in proper and appropriate gym attire for every class, marks
are lost each time a student is not changed.
Ø Each student is allotted 6 times to not be changed, after the sixth time in a
semester parents will be notified and students may be subject to consequences.
Ø PE changing includes:
1) Olds Koinonia PE t-shirt and shorts
*New students must buy a shirt and pair of shorts and any student may buy additional shirts and shorts through the phys-ed office.
2) Sweatshirts may be used outside when cold out
3) Gym shoes – must be appropriate gym shoes and laces must be tied properly.
*Skateboard style shoes are not acceptable as they do not provide
adequate support, grip, and protection from ankle and other injuries
Ø Students must be prepared to do gym both inside and outside on ANY given day (especially in the fall and spring) and therefore must always have indoor gym shoes as well as appropriate, flat soled, lace up only outdoor shoes with them at school every day.
Ø Students MUST have Indoor only gym shoes in the gym during PE and lunch time as this helps protect the gym floor and keep it clean. Students who do not have indoor only gym shoes on any given day will NOT be permitted to participate in the gym.
3. Students unable to participate during class must provide a note from parent(s)
on the day that they are unable to participate or by the following day at the latest. Students will be unable to participate in following PE classes until they provide the parent note and will be marked as unchanged and subject to in class work. Students unable to participate for an extended period of time will be required to provide a note from your physician and parent.
-The goal in physical education is to help you improve your physical abilities as well as Spiritual and social aspects. Phys-ed is not focused on just team sports or traditional sports but also includes a wide range of activities to promote active living outside of school. May your experiences in phys-ed this year be rewarding in many ways as you are challenged along the way. It is my hope and prayer that many of the activities will give you an opportunity to see God in unique ways and that you will grow Spiritually as a result.

Off-Campus Coed
Coed 20/30:
Ø Students need 25 hours of off campus activity to get each additional credit for PE 20/30 – one credit per semester
Ø Coed 20/30 is a unique and fun component but requires full participation and attendance. Students must be in attendance for 25 coed hours per semester in order to receive their extra 2 credits.
Coed is just like any other class as far as attendance goes. If a student in coed is at school already on Friday and isn’t leaving early for either a school or sports event, sick, or an outside event where they are signed out by either a parent note, e-mail, or phone call to the office, otherwise they MUST be attending coed.
1) In more detail, being absent from coed activities where we are back by 3:15 pm are under the same policy as regular classes. If a student is not signing out at the OFFICE correctly they will need to see administration the next day they are back at school as this is against school policy.
2) Students who are regular absent from coed may need to see administration as it is a participation / hours based course
3) A schedule of coed activities roughly 2 months ahead will be posted on the OKCS sports web page under “PE 7-9, 20/30 info” found through the OKCS home page as well as posted on the high school hallway bulletin board so that students can make arrangements to be at our 3 coed activities per semester where we are not back until 5:00-6:00 pm.
4) In order to get your 25 hours per semester AND to help with our activity bookings students MUST attend these
longer hour activities
2. As we get closer to the end of the semesters, students who are not projecting to fulfill their 25 hours per semester will be subject to
working on and handing in a research assignment on their own time AND must fulfill the assignment’s criteria
to make up for hours missed. If students feel that jobs or the RAP program may interfere with the strict schedule associated with
coed please see Mr. Terpstra and or Mr. Brown during the first week of September to discuss possible options
Ø A student may drive him/her-self to and from a coed activity ONLY IF they inform Mr. Rempel or myself before leaving. Students cannot under any circumstance take any passengers with them under Chinooks Edge policy. Students who do not inform us of driving will fall under the same category as failing to sign out at the office.
-Some of the activities include:
-Bowling -Rock climbing -Curling -Broomball -Squash & Racquetball
-Swimming -Fitness testing - Golfing – Skating – Clay shooting - OKCS gym
